Our custom leather patches give hats, jackets and bags a rugged, premium look. Choose faux leather with your design debossed into a smooth, even surface, or genuine leather with your design laser engraved into natural grain. Pick your leather, color, size and shape, upload your art, and we handle the rest. No setup fees, no die fees, no art fees. The price you see is the price.* Minimum 10 pieces.
*We prep your artwork free. On the rare file that needs significant correction to be production-ready, such as a low-resolution scan or artwork that has to be redrawn, we will quote that small charge along with your proof. You approve it before anything is charged, and you can walk away at that point.

Faux or genuine leather: which do you want?
Both make a great patch. The difference is the material, how your design goes in, and the price.
- Faux leather (debossed). A durable synthetic leather with a smooth, consistent finish. Your design is pressed into the surface with a heated die for a crisp, recessed impression. It's uniform patch to patch, easy to care for and safe in the wash. Colors: black, chestnut brown, light brown and chocolate. Best for hat patches, merch and larger runs.
- Genuine leather (laser engraved). Real leather with natural grain and character. Your design is laser engraved for a rich, darker tone and finer detail. Every patch varies a little, and it ages beautifully with wear. Colors: caramel brown, natural tan, taupe and dark brown. Best for premium brands, heritage looks and detailed logos.

How to order
- Pick your leather and color: faux or genuine, then one of four colors for that leather. The price table updates as you switch.
- Upload your artwork. We read its proportions automatically and set your width and height to match, so your patch comes out the shape you designed, not stretched.
- Set your finished size: up to 4" on the longest side. The classic leather hat patch is about 2.5" to 3" wide.
- Pick your quantity: minimum 10 pieces. Bulk discounts step down automatically at 25, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 pieces.
- Choose a shape: circle, square, rectangle, oval, or a custom shape cut to your artwork. Leather has a clean cut edge, so there's no border to choose.
- Select a backing: iron-on / heat seal, sew-on, sticker (peel & stick), or hook & loop (Velcro, +$0.25 per piece). Velcro is the only one that costs extra.
- Add to cart and check out. We'll send a free mockup for your approval. Production doesn't start until you sign off.
Backing & application
- Iron-on / heat seal. Our most popular backing. Press onto hats, canvas, denim, cotton and cotton-rich blends with a heat press. Permanent once set.
- Sew-on (no adhesive). A plain back, stitched on by hand or machine. The most durable option for leather, and the right pick for jackets, bags and leather goods.
- Hook & loop (Velcro). +$0.25 per piece. Both hook and loop sides are included, so patches swap on and off bags, gear and hats with loop panels.
- Sticker (peel & stick). For notebooks, coolers, cases, displays and temporary use. Not meant for the wash.
Recommended settings for iron-on / heat-seal leather patches:
- Temperature: 280–300°F (140–150°C). Start low and raise the temperature if the patch isn't bonding.
- Press time: 15–20 seconds on a heat press. A household iron can work, but a heat press gives a far stronger bond
- Pressure: firm and even. On hats, use a hat press or a curved platen
- Pre-press: 3–5 seconds on the garment first, to drive out moisture and wrinkles
- Cover: parchment paper or a Teflon sheet over the patch
- Cooling: let the patch cool completely before you check the bond; press from inside the garment for a few seconds to finish
Don't overheat leather. Too much heat can darken or shrink the surface. Stay at the low end of the range and add time before you add temperature.
Fabric warning. Nylon, silk, leather garments, waterproof jackets, windbreakers and stretchy technical fabrics react badly to high heat. On those, choose sew-on, or hook & loop and sew the loop side on.
Care instructions
- Faux leather: safe in a gentle wash. Turn the garment inside out, use cold water and air dry
- Genuine leather: spot clean with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking; keep it out of the washer and dryer
- No bleach or harsh chemicals on either
- Never iron directly on the patch
- A little leather conditioner now and then keeps genuine leather supple

What is the difference between faux and genuine leather patches? Faux leather is a durable synthetic with a smooth, uniform finish, and your design is debossed into it with a heated die. Genuine leather is real leather with natural grain, and your design is laser engraved for a richer tone and finer detail. Faux costs less and is wash safe; genuine has more character and ages with wear.
What colors do the leather patches come in? Faux leather comes in black, chestnut brown, light brown and chocolate. Genuine leather comes in caramel brown, natural tan, taupe and dark brown. Your design shows as a darker impression in the leather.
Can leather patches be multi-color? No. Leather patches are single tone by design: your logo appears as a debossed or engraved impression in the leather color you choose. For a multi-color patch, look at our embroidered or PVC patches.
What size should a leather hat patch be? The classic leather hat patch is about 2.5" to 3" wide, often in a rounded rectangle or badge shape. Leather patches go up to 4" on the longest side.
How do you attach a leather patch to a hat? The most common method is a heat-applied adhesive backing pressed on with a hat press at about 280 to 300°F for 15 to 20 seconds. Sew-on is the most durable, and hook and loop works on tactical hats with a loop panel.
