Choosing a heat press

• 15″ × 15″ is the usual starting size — big enough for adult front prints, small enough for a home or small studio.
• Swing-away and draw models give you clear access to the platen, which matters for thicker garments and for safety.
• Auto-open models are worth it once you're pressing in volume — they stop you scorching a garment when you get distracted.
• Hat presses are a separate machine; a flat press won't do curved surfaces properly.
