Our custom chenille patches are made the varsity way: soft, looped chenille yarn built up on a sturdy felt base, with embroidered outlines and detail, and a clean felt edge cut around your design. Pick your size and shape, upload your art, and we handle the rest. No setup fees, no art fees, and up to 9 colors included. The price you see is the price.* Minimum 10 pieces.
*We prep your artwork free. On the rare file that needs significant correction to be production-ready, such as a low-resolution scan or artwork that has to be redrawn, we will quote that small charge along with your proof. You approve it before anything is charged, and you can walk away at that point.

How to order
- Upload your artwork. We read its proportions automatically and set your width and height to match, so your patch comes out the shape you designed, not stretched. Adjust either box and the other follows.
- Empty space is cropped automatically. We detect the design itself and trim the blank margin so your patch is sized to your artwork, not the canvas.
- Set your finished size: up to 14" on the longest side. Chenille is priced from 3"; smaller patches are charged at the 3" rate.
- Pick your quantity: minimum 10 pieces. Bulk discounts step down automatically at 25, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 pieces.
- Choose a shape: circle, square, rectangle, oval, or a custom shape cut to your artwork. Every chenille patch gets a clean felt edge at no extra charge.
- Select a backing: iron-on / heat seal, sew-on, sticker (peel & stick), or hook & loop (Velcro, +$0.25 per piece). Velcro is the only one that costs extra.
- Add to cart and check out. We'll send a free mockup for your approval. Production doesn't start until you sign off.
Backing & application
- Felt edge. Every chenille patch is finished with a clean felt border cut around your design. Included in the price.
- Iron-on / heat seal. Our most popular backing. Press onto hoodies, sweatshirts, denim, canvas and cotton-rich blends. Permanent once set.
- Sew-on (no adhesive). A plain back, stitched on by hand or machine. The traditional choice for letterman jackets, wool and heavy garments, and the most durable option for thick chenille.
- Hook & loop (Velcro). +$0.25 per piece. Both hook and loop sides are included, so patches swap on and off bags, gear and hats with loop panels.
- Sticker (peel & stick). For displays and temporary use only. Chenille is thick and heavy, so it won't hold long on fabric.
Recommended settings for iron-on / heat-seal chenille patches:
- Temperature: 300–330°F (150–165°C). Start low and raise the temperature if the patch isn't bonding.
- Press time: 20–25 seconds on a heat press · 45–60 seconds with a household iron, moving slowly
- Pressure: firm and even. Chenille is thick, so heat needs time to reach the adhesive
- Pre-press: 3–5 seconds on the garment first, to drive out moisture and wrinkles
- Cover: parchment paper or a Teflon sheet over the patch
- Cooling: let the patch cool completely before you check the bond; press from inside the garment for a few seconds to finish
Fabric warning. Nylon, silk, leather garments, waterproof jackets, windbreakers and stretchy technical fabrics react badly to high heat. On those, choose sew-on, or hook & loop and sew the loop side on.
Care instructions
- Wait at least 24 hours before the first wash
- Wash the garment inside out in cold water on a gentle cycle
- No bleach or harsh chemicals
- Air dry to keep the chenille loops soft and full
- Never iron directly on the patch. Brush lightly with your hand to fluff the loops

What is a chenille patch? Chenille is the soft, fuzzy, looped yarn you see on varsity letterman jackets. A chenille patch builds that yarn up on a felt base, with embroidered outlines for crisp edges, for a plush, dimensional patch with a retro feel.
How many colors can my chenille patch have? Up to 9 colors across the chenille yarn, felt and embroidery thread, included in the price. Most chenille designs use two to five. If your artwork needs more, we'll quote the difference with your proof before anything is charged.
What size should a chenille patch be? Chenille looks best big and bold. Most chenille patches are 4" to 8", and varsity letters are often 6" to 8". They go up to 14", and anything under 3" is priced at the 3" rate because the looped yarn needs room to read.
Which backing should I choose for chenille? Sew-on is the traditional and most durable choice, especially for letterman jackets and heavy garments. Iron-on works well on hoodies, sweatshirts and denim with a heat press. Hook and loop lets you swap patches on bags and jackets. Sticker is for displays only, since chenille is heavy.
