Tips for pressing HTV on canvas totes:
- Material: Most canvas bags are 100% cotton, which is ideal for standard HTV like Siser EasyWeed. Thicker canvas (10+ oz) will require slightly longer press times.
- Flatness: Canvas bags can be bulky and uneven. Slip a piece of cardboard or a press pillow inside the bag before pressing to create a flat, even pressing surface.
- Seams and pockets: Many canvas bags have side gussets and interior pockets. These can create uneven pressure areas. Center your design on the main flat panel and avoid pressing over seams.
- Press settings: 305-315 degrees F, 10-15 seconds, medium pressure
- Pre-press: Always pre-press the canvas panel for 3-5 seconds to remove moisture and flatten the weave. Canvas can be quite textured and a pre-press helps the HTV adhere more evenly.
Pressing HTV on Aprons
Custom aprons are extremely popular for restaurants, breweries, home chefs, craft businesses, and as personalized gifts. Most aprons are made from cotton canvas, cotton twill, or poly/cotton blends.
- Finding the flat area: Most apron bib areas are flat and easy to press. The skirt/lower portion can be more challenging due to strings and ties.
- String management: Tuck the apron strings behind the garment before pressing to prevent them from getting caught under the platen and creating pressure inconsistencies.

- Design sizing: A 14"x14" throw pillow cover can accommodate a design up to 8-10 inches across while maintaining good visual proportions.

- Pre-wash and dry all linens before applying HTV to remove fabric sizing and ensure the fibers are ready to bond.
